The Peace Abbey in Sherborn, Massachusetts
A Classic Presentation for Non-Violence
As a Find -A-Grave volunteer, I visited the Sherborn Central Cemetery to photograph a tombstone from 1690. The only stones readable dated from the late 1700’s. It was disappointing, to say the least, but I found a wonderful collage about non-violence representing proponents from all over the world. Gandhi was the center piece but every century and generation seemed to be represented; of late, John Lennon. Below are pictures of the plaques that received my attention but there were dozens additional dating back to the Old Testament.
Meeting all of the standards of each proponent would be very difficult. What if everyone added just one to their constitution? Visit The Peace Abbey display and foundation, 2 North Main Street, the intersection of route 16 and 27, Sherborn, Mass.
